This game is original as you're defensless meaning you have no way to protect yourself. This made it really unique aswell as in level 3, when the guy came out of the crypt, you had no idea what to do which made it amazing. I'd say add things that can kill you but dont ever add a melee system in yet, it would ruin what you have. Exploring, jump scares, tension and being defensless is the best setup you got at the moment, dont change it yet!

I think it would destroy the fear i get from this game. Its the defenceless style that makes you feel like the game is in control of you and not the other way around. Also i feel if i see the monsters up close for long periods of time i dont think i could be scared of them.

i would like to see a melee so to make it feel more relistick but not acual wepones you would swich between lighting and keys (sorry for bad spelling)

Both is fine . I suggest a melee combat system only to paralyze the enemy but not killing them . That would be fun , like looking for weapons around the place like a wooden stick , broom ,spade , anything .
